| Title: |
The Willow |
| Artist: |
Gabriel Keller
|
| Description: |
A melancholic song about time passing and that sort of thing
|
| Notes: |
I wrote this when I went over to my grandma's house. I got to thinking about how old she was and how much she's seen and I wondered if she had any regret. Things that hurt her and she couldn't change. So that's how this song started and I added my own frustrations with time. The past hurts sometimes, cuz it's so sweet.

The Willow
Oh time,
Why must you slide away?
Haven’t you time to stay
And drink a cup of tea beneath the willow?
Oh time,
Why must you make me sigh?
Why can’t you just let the years go by
And blow away the days beneath the willow?
Chorus:
We’re just asking, there’s no second chance
We’re just asking, sweet ghosts of the past
Oh time,
Why must you open my eyes?
Why can’t you just leave me blind, do I
Need to know how precious it was beneath the willow?
Oh time,
I’m watching you fly away
Now don’t let me lose my faith
And leave me hanging to the days beneath the willow
Chorus:
We’re just asking, there’s no second chance
We’re just longing, sweet ghosts of the past
Oh time,
Why must you slide away?
