| Title: |
Land of the Moonshine |
| Artist: |
Gabriel Keller
|
| Album: |
Finally Alive |
| Description: |
a folk/rock/country song with a harmonica solo and 4 part harmonies (or so)
|
| Notes: |
I recorded this in january 2006 and wrote it sometime in may or june 2005. so it's taken a while to get to it's final form, and undergone many changes, but im happy with the final result. This was the first time i used drums and the first time i did several layers of vocals. my little sister contributed her beautiful voice too. it was fun. I probably worked on it for 12 hours or so!
the lyrics....interpret them as you want...they're more or less about breaking the mold...and about nature...and kindness...

| Lyrics: |
Land of The Moonshine
Stay close to home
Don’t you wander down the road
To the places where mama can’t keep you warm
But there’s something you can feel
Another world barely concealed
Another version of what might be real
Chorus:
Here in the land of the moonshine
Here in a shower of sunlight
Here where the sky meets the sunshine
And we don’t turn out the moonlight
Heartstrung and cold
Keep doing as you’re told
But there’s places where secondhand dreams are sold
It’s not too late
Just shine your moonlight at our gate
And you’ll remember like a dream as we let you…
Chorus:
Into the land of the moonshine
Short lived the reign of the sunlight
Soon be replaced by the sunshine
That doesn’t turn out the moonlight
(harmonica soloJ)
Chorus:
Here in the land of the moonshine
Here in a shower of sunlight
Here where the sky meets the sunshine
And we don’t turn out the moonlight
Come to the land of the moonshine
Here where we bask in the sunlight
Come get your fill of the sunshine
But never turn off the moonlight
